The Supreme Court in Samoa has upheld the jailing of a man who is serving more than six years for possessing 555 grams of cocaine.

The lawyer acting for Joe Lafaele Faulkner, also known as Joe Palagi, had applied for his release pending an appeal of the conviction.

But the Chief Justice, Patu Falefatu Sapolu, has ruled against the application, saying he understands the seriousness of the case.

Meanwhile, two men charged with possession of 3.3 grams of methamphetamine and 10.3 grams of cannabis have been released on bail without pleas after appearing in court today.

George Fe'esago and William Rankin will appear again on January the 21st for mention.
