Mike Warren has been elected Mayor of Pitcairn - the British Territory's Chief Executive - in this week's election.

He replaces Jay Warren, who was runner up in a three-way contest and has been Mayor since January 2005.

The island's 38-strong electorate also elected new members of the Island Council.

Pitcairn has a population of 46, while the other three islands are uninhabited.

The Governor of Pitcairn is the British High Commissioner to New Zealand.
