Vanuatu's minister for foreign affairs, George Wells, has announced that his ministry will be cancelling some diplomatic passports.

The Daily Post newspaper reports that the Minister says that at present there are around 248 registered Vanuatu diplomatic passports issued.

But he said the cancellation of around 40 would begin a process of ensuring tighter control on who is holding a diplomatic passport and whether they are allowed to hold one.
