The new Solomon Islands Prime Minister has re-affirmed his Coalition Government's support for Taiwan.
Dr Derek Sikua has told President Chen Shui-Bian his Government would seek to further strengthen relations with Taiwan.
He also reassured President Chen of Solomon Islands' backing for Taiwan's battle to join the UN and the WHO.
The Solomon Islands is one of six Pacific nations that recognise Taiwan.
