The Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, has welcomed the deportation of Julian Moti, saying his government had a hardline position on seeking justice concerning the alleged sex offender.
Mr Rudd said he had expected the new government of the Solomon Islands to cooperate with Australian efforts to return Mr Moti home.
He says he appreciates that the new Solomons Government has moved early to return Mr Moti to Australia.
Mr Rudd says the matter now lies with appropriate Australian legal authorities.
