Tongan woman arrested in Fiji on fraud allegations

A 36 year old Tongan woman has been arrested in Fiji for allegedly defrauding and stealing more than 100,000 US dollars from a bank in Tonga.

Fijivillage online reports that the woman allegedly stole the money from the bank branch she worked for.

She was about to leave for Samoa when she was arrested in a Nadi hotel after a request from Tongan police to Fijian counterparts.

Police also recovered some of the stolen money.

She is expected to be deported back to Tonga to answer to the allegations.
