Tonga's Public Service Association is suing the Government and Prime Minster for the unlawful dismissal and ill treatment of a public servant.
The PSA Legal Counsel, Clive Edwards, served a writ of summons against the Prime Minister, Dr Feleti Sevele, and the Government of Tonga for unlawful banning of a public servant, Mele 'Amanaki, from her home in December 2006 after the riots in Nuku'alofa.
He also alleges that Ms 'Amanaki suffered ill-treatment at work after the six-week national strike of public servants in 2005.
Ms Amanaki, who is now the Secretary General of the PSA, says a writ has also been served against the public service commissioners and the government for unlawful dismissal in August 2007.
"Obviously someone trying to make a legal action, means that that person thinks that he's in the right. That's what my lawyer, and also myself thinks, but we'll leave that to the court to decide."
Mele 'Amanaki says the total claim is for about 750,000 US dollars.
The Prime Minister, Public Service Commissioners and the Government of Tonga, now have 28 days to submit their defence to the Supreme Court.
