A Tongan MP Clive Edwards is repeating calls for the minister of tourism to resign, and says the silence from the government speak volumes

The Auditor General is investigating allegations, made by the director of tourism, that the minister, Fineasi Funaki, misappropriated funds from the ministry.

Mr Edwards says based on the evidence provided, the allegations seem irrefutable, and the minister should resign.

"The leak has come from the Prime Ministers office, and the chief executive officer has tried to explain his position because he doesn't want to be victimised. It is a real indication of dissatisfaction with in civil servants at what's going on, and I believe that they've had enough."
