Fiji Water resumes exports after winning injunction against tax authority

4:05 pm on 21 January 2008

The Lautoka High Court in Fiji has ruled in favour of Natural Waters of Viti Limited allowing it to resume the export of Fiji Water until the end of the month.

The company, Natural Waters, had filed an injunction seeking court orders, which include that the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority, or FIRCA, give the all clear for its containers of Fiji Water sitting at the Lautoka Wharf to be exported.

While making the ruling on the injunction, High Court Judge Justice Jocyln Scutt said the case will be recalled at end of this month in chambers.

The legal action was initiated against FIRCA for stopping the exports of Fiji Water.

FIRCA and the Interim Finance Minister claim Natural Waters has failed to make correct valuation declarations on its exports.
