The Solomon Islands Ministry of Finance has reported a significant improvement in the tax revenue the government collected.
A statement from the Inland Revenue Division of the Ministry published by the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation says says tax collections for 2007 was 590-million dollars, and 60-percent more than the revenue collected in 2005.
The tax revenue includes significant improvements in the collection of company goods and sales taxes.
The Ministry of Finance says the out-going Acting Tax Commissioner, New Zealander Michael Heweston, had played an important role in helping Inland Revenue to improve its work.
