The new Solomon Islands government is reported to have re-appointed the sacked special envoy to Regional Assistance Mission, Michael Maina.

This is being reported by the Solomon Star newspaper.

Mr Maina was sacked by the former Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare last year.

However, when the Derek Sikua came to power in December the government offered to make a new appointment to the post with the intention of re-appointing Mr Maina.
