An outgoing high court judge in Fiji, Justice Roger Coventry, has called on lawyers to speak out, saying he is concerned with aspects of the country's judicial system.
The Fijilive website reports that Justice Coventry told the lawyers at his farewll that the immediate future is not rosy.
He says lawyers should not accept legality for the sake of expediency or any other reason.
Justice Coventry says lawyers should speak out because judges can not.
He says he has been concerned with the speed with which cases of what he describes as fundamental importance are progressing.
