A report from Vanuatu's weather office says at seven o'clock this morning NZT Tropical cyclone Gene was about 50KM east-south-east of Futuna Island and 90 KM northeast of Aneityum Island.
Gene has moved south-southwest at 5 KM/HR (08 Knots) in the past 12 hours.
Winds of 150 KM/HR will continue to affect Futuna Island today and will later extend to Aneityum and the southern parts of Tanna.
Winds of 110 KM/Hr will continue to affect Aniwa and the rest of Tanna island and gale force winds of 75 KM/Hr will affect Erromango Island
