Banking services for rural parts of Vanuatu

11:49 am on 11 February 2008

Rural areas in Vanuatu, out of normal reach of bank branches, will soon get access to modern banking services.

National Bank of Vanuatu clients in rural areas will be able to use electronic banking by using EFTPOS cards.

The technology will allow bank customers to have access to savings accounts, make deposits and withdrawals, or transfer money.

The new electronic banking system will provide local access to secure and convenient banking services.

The project was funded by Japan and the Asian Development Bank.
