Bougainville on verge of a gold mining deal with a Korean company - Post Courier

Papua New Guinea's autonomous Bougainville region will decide tomorrow whether to go ahead with a multi-million dollar phone for gold deal with a South Korean telecommunications company.

The Autonomous Bougainville Government has been in talks for more than a week with Korean Telco, Airlink Co, to grant a mining licence in exchange for ownership of the Korean company's operation in Bougainville.

The Post Courier newspaper reports the ABG President, Joseph Kabui, saying the deal is very sensitive but after more talks official papers are expected to be signed tomorrow.
