Fiji's Chamber of Commerce welcomes the arrival of a new mobile phone company into the country.
The Jamaican company, Digicel, has won a mobile license for Fiji, breaking the monopoly enjoyed by Vodafone.
Four companies had submitted bids, but Digicel won with an offer of 10.25 million US dollars.
The chambers' vice-president, Humphrey Chang, says businesses in Fiji will profit from Digicel's arrival.
"That's something that a lot of people are waiting for. It's long overdue. We welcome new players because it will provide a competition platform."
Humphrey Chang hopes that competition will force prices down.
Digicel is expected to start offering its services from October this year.
