Papua New Guinea's Health Minister, Sasa Zibe, has engaged another team to conduct investigations into the operations of the entire Health Department.

Mr Zibe told the newspaper, The National, that the action is needed to weed out corruption and other bad practices that impede on the department's smooth operations.

He said his department is in need of a major shake-up, an exercise that is overdue by many years.

Mr Zibe said the investigation would deal with all complaints regarding staff who are alleged to have been involved in corrupt and questionable conduct.

He said the performance of a few was spoiling the good name and the many dedicated and committed workers in the Health Department.
