Calls for American Samoa's government to get out of construction business

A member of the American Samoa Contractors Association says the government should "walk the talk" about building up the private sector by getting out of the construction business.

Pacific Refrigeration and Air Conditioning owner, Lesa Pili Mai, says small contractors can benefit from jobs being done in house by the Department of Public Works, Education, Human and Social Services and other departments which have their own maintenance divisions.

Lesa says the government has been talking about diversifying the economy for so long, yet it continues to snatch jobs away from the private sector.
