Another delay in Fiji coup case

4:48 pm on 5 March 2008

There has been another delay in Fiji in the planned trial on the legality of the 2006 military coup.

The panel of judges has directed the three lawyers in the case to meet in chambers to iron out pre-trial matters.

According to the website Fiji live, the Acting Chief Justice Anthony Gates expressed concern at the confusion in the High Court proceeding this morning.

He said that he had expected the lawyers to have come prepared with certain issues to be discussed in the pre-trial today.

The case has been adjourned to this afternoon.
