Samoa's assistant police commissioner, Papalii Li'o, says further police investigations show that 150,000 US dollars is missing from the Ministry of Police and Prisons, not the 500,000 reported earlier.

Taylor Miti, an accountant at the Ministry, has been charged with misappropriating public funds.

Last Friday, police raided the offices of the Ministry and seized files and computer records.

Papalii says police investigations are continuing.

The assistant commissioner has also denied media reports that past and current top police officers were linked to the missing funds.

Meanwhile, Taylor Miti appeared in court yesterday but his case has been adjourned to March the 17th.
