Transparency Solomon Islands has welcomed a call by Parliament's Speaker for politicians and civil servants to put fighting corruption at the top of their agenda.
But the body says it's vital for the whole of the Solomon Islands' community to get involved in the struggle.
Transparency Solomon Islands executive officer, Joses Tuhanuku, says corruption infects Solomon Island society from remote villages to high government offices.
"The community if we want a bright future, if we want a better future we have to all rally together and fight against corruption. This is the number one enemy of the people of the Solomon Islands... just like a lot of developing countries."
Mr Tuhanuku says the struggle against endemic corruption in the Solomons requires a co-ordinated approach involving not only the Government but civil society, non government organisations and even individuals.
