A company in Papua New Guinea, TRUKAI, has created more than one hundred new jobs as a result of its latest move to export rice to the Australian market.

The company is now milling and packing rice in Lae to supply the market.

The export of rice to the Australian market has also increased the country's balance of trade surpluses.

The National newspaper reports the company saying the rice mill now operates 24-hours a day to meet the demand for its product.
