Westech eyes gold in Fiji, as prices soar

The new owner of Fiji's Vatukoula gold mine Westech International, is exploring new mines in Vatukoula with the global price of gold at an all time high.

Westech acquired the former Emperor Gold Mine operation over a year ago and is now applying strategies to create opportunities to boost production and returns, while gold prices are soaring.

Westech International will also be recruiting 150 personnel from next month, in addition to 1000 workers who had been recruited since the new owners took over operations.

Company director Brian Wesson told Fijilive Westech had injected millions into repair and refurbishment work at the mine since June last year.

Westech International remains adamant the company is capable of meeting its targeted 28,000 ounces of gold by the end of the year.
