The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands has thrown its weight behind a bill that seeks to outlaw smoking in restaurants, bars, and workplaces in the Northern Marianas.

The Association chair, Lynn Knight, says everybody who responded to a survey supported the bill.

Ms Knight has told the Saipan Tribune she was surprised at how strongly the general managers felt about the issue.

But Ms Knight says they want to clarify the number of smoking rooms hotels are allowed to retain and whether those numbers can vary.
