The Fiji Public Service Commission says it is still a week away from revealing the name of the New Zealander who will be Fiji's new Supervisor of Elections.

The Commission chairman Rishi Ram says the lawyer is winding up his practice and preparing to at work Supervisor for Elections by mid-May.

Mr Ram has defended the lawyer's lack of experience in electoral systems but says the Commission is satisfied that as a barrister and solicitor with vast experience he meets their requirements.

The lawyer recently completed work in Papua New Guinea with a non-government organisation.

He was chosen from a pool of New Zealand and Australian applicants.
