A car crash in New Caledonia has claimed six lives.
Police say the driver lost control over the vehicle near Bourail and broke through a barrier, plunging into a river where the car burst into flames.
One of the passengers was thrown out the car but died in hospital of burns and multiple fractures.
Two of the victims were children.
