Tourism officials in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas say they are elated that there will be ten additional flights from Japan next week.

The 10 charter flights will be operated by Continental Airlines and Japan Airlines during Japan's Golden Week, bringing in potentially 2,200 more visitors.

Golden Week, in the first week of May, incorporates four public holidays.

The managing director of the Northern Marianas Visitors' Authority, Perry Tenorio, says they are very pleased to have the additional seats out of their No. 1 source market.

He says although the lack of airline seats into the CNMI will continue, these charter flights will provide positive economic benefits.
