Fiji police say investigations into alleged corruption involving four ministers of the ousted government are almost complete.

A police spokesperson, Ema Mua, has told the website Fijilive that the files are likely to be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution as early as next week.

The four former ministers being probed have not been named.

The police spokeswoman says the investigation has taken quite some time and it is now in its final stages.

The military justified its coup in 2006 by claiming that it wanted to clean up corruption in government.
