Satellite television coverage to be provided of 10th Pacific Arts Festival

10:30 am on 28 April 2008

The organising committee of the 10th Pacific Arts Festival in American Samoa has selected a Fiji based company to televise the festival around the region.

The same company has provided coverage for other major regional events such as the South Pacific Games and the Arts Festival in New Caledonia in 2000.

The co-chairman of the Festival Committee, Fagafaga Daniel Langkilde, says the company will transmit live via satellite two hours each of the opening and closing ceremonies and one hour of daily highlights of the two week event.

Fagafaga says eight million people in 14 pacific countries will be watching the festival coverage which is a great marketing opportunity for American Samoa.

Fagafaga says the fees are still under negotiation.
