The Samoa government has banned all sports competition for college and high schools in the country for this year after a student violent brawl left one student seriously injured.

Francesca Tuala has been sent to New Zealand for medical treatment after she was hit by a petrol bomb.

Three male students from Don Bosco technical school are facing

attempted murder charges as a result.

The Cabinet has decided to ban all sports competition including

the annual rugby tournament and the athletic games in order to put a stop to the continuing brawls between several government and church schools in town.

The cabinet will reconsider the ban next year.
