Solomons Telekom staff call for removal of chief executive

10:48 am on 23 May 2008

Telephone services in Solomon Islands, disrupted by a sit-in by Telekom workers yesterday are expected to be back to normal today.

More than 3-hundred workers of Our Telekom mounted a sit in yesterday calling for the removal of Chief Executive Officer Martyn Robinson.

However by late afternoon they were advised by their lawyers to return to

work and allow negotiations to take place.

The workers are demanding Mr Robinson's removal saying he is racist,

biased and dictatorial in his management style.

Mr Robinson, a British national, has been in the job for 17 years.
