Fiji's ousted PM says it's unfortunate Bainimarama is setting preconditions

Fiji's ousted Prime Minister says it is unfortunate that the interim Prime Minister is setting preconditions like "No Charter, No Elections" ahead of their talks on moving Fiji forward.

Laisenia Qarase made it clear to the website, Fiji Village that he does not support the idea of coming in with the Charter proposal to have the discussions.

However, the interim Prime Minister said the SDL leader is not in a position to dictate terms to him and the proposed People's Charter is the way forward for Fiji.

Commodore Bainimarama also said that the military and the interim government will now ensure that the SDL does not contest the next elections.

He says that's because the SDL opposes the Charter process and the work of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji.

Laisenia Qarase met with Commodore Frank Bainimarama last week.
