The Marshall Islands parliament, the Nitijela, is to receive aid assistance from the United Nations Development Programme.

The UNDP has released its Country Programme Action Plan for the Marshall Islands for the next five years.

The Plan includes a project to strengthen the Office of the Clerk to Parliament to help members of the Nitijela discharge their legislative, oversight and representative functions.

The UNDP will also seek to strengthen the capacity of ministries to collect and analyze data so they can monitor and analyse progress on the Millennium Development Goals.

The agency is also helping sustainable land management and is discussing how to strengthen the Government's capacity to include climate change adaptation in national policies.
