A search is underway in Papua New Guinea's East New Britain province for eight people missing at sea.
The eight were travelling from Namatanai in New Ireland province to Kokopo when they went missing.
It is understood a 40hp motorised dinghy they were travelling in ran out of fuel, leaving them adrift in the open sea.
The newspaper, The National, reports a team of rescuers flew over the New Ireland coastal waters to Watom Island and over the Gazelle Peninsula area yesterday.
The search is to continue.
