A new debit card has just been launched in Fiji that's meant to make paying bills and goods and services a lot easier.

The Governor of the Reserve Bank Savenaca Narube said at the launch of Transtel's new product, Yehdo, that advances in the telecommunications sector and the internet had presented the market with new and convenient ways of interaction.

Yehdo is a reloadable debit card that provides a convenient and easy means for payment of bills, purchase of goods and services and for transfer of value for use by anyone, which will be available anywhere, at anytime.

The prepaid re-loadable card can be used via the internet or over the phone.

Mr Narube says this will particularly benefit rural communities, who can simply call the provider to order goods and have them delivered.
