3:20 pm on 20 June 2008

The newly appointed chairman of Fijian Holdings Limited, Robin Storck, has resigned because of a New Zealand travel ban.

Following the first meeting of the new FHL board, Mr Storck told the Fijilive website that he stepped down because New Zealand slapped a travel ban on him.

He says he needs to travel to New Zealand for medical reasons from time to time.

Mr Storck was appointed by the interim Indigenous Affairs Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama last Friday to replace Jo Mar as chairman.

The interim Government expressed its concerns about the travel ban.
