The Solomon Islands Public Employees Union are planning a civil protest march this week.
The SIPEU General Secretary, Paul Belande, described the proposed march as an opportunity to hold a general protest, rather than make specific demands.
However the Commissioner of Police is yet to make a decision over whether to allow the demonstration.
