The ANZ Bank says it has recovered 200,000 dollars in cash which went missing during a flight from Sydney to Papua New Guinea.

No details were given but a bank official says the money was recovered after great efforts from the bank's head of security.

The Australian and US currency was reported missing nearly two weeks ago after vanishing from an Air Niugini flight en route from Sydney to the ANZ bank in Port Moresby, via Brisbane.

An Australian security company had ordered a PNG security company to pick up the cash from Port Moresby airport, but the money had vanished.

Air Niugini claimed the cargo never made it to PNG while Qantas, which processed the shipment in Australia, said the money was sent.

The money was recovered but last month, the ANZ lost about 80,000 dollars in a bank robbery at Port Moresby airport.
