The Chief Executive of the Cook Islands South Pacific mini games committee, David Lobb, has welcomed news that work on the multi sports complex can go ahead.
This follows the signing of a commercial contract between the Cook Islands government and China last week, where six million US dollars was released from the around 10 million dollar concessional loan.
However, Mr Lobb says while it's good news there are still a few issues he's not happy with.
"I still don't think we're entirely satisfied with the way it's gone in terms of the Chinese design as opposed to the alternate design but it's good for us to see something's happening."
