American Samoa's Department of Commerce says the Government is responsible for collecting information on non-employer establishments or businesses that don't have paid employees to be included in the 2007 Economic Census.

The Department of Commerce is now collecting this information and is asking for the cooperation of all those who have non-employer businesses.

Chief Statistician, Meleisea Vai Filiga, says such businesses are mostly family operated businesses.

The 2007 Economic Census of American Samoa provides statistics that acts as a guideline for economic policies and business planning, identifies business trends and measures economic growth.
