Fiji's interim regime will subsidise landowners with 5.3 million US dollars for the use of their land for agricultural farming purposes under the Committee for Better Utilisation of Land.

The rent subsidy is for landowners who not only agree to the use of their land but fully utilise it for commercial farming purposes as not to defeat the committee's purpopse.

The Fiji Times Online reports, Inia Seruiratu, who heads the committee in the North as saying the the government subsidy was an incentive.
