The government of Samoa has decided to keep the publicly-owned radio station 2AP out of any future privatisation plans.

Radio 2AP has been re-launched with the Prime Minister, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, outlining four key guidelines for the station to follow.

This includes the promotion of Samoan cultural and traditions, dissemination of government issues and policies, as well as to inform

people in times of natural disasters such as cyclones, and to promote disaster awareness.

The prime minister says providing news and information is one other important service for the public broadcaster.

His comments comes after the government sold the Samoa Broadcasting Corporation's television network and FM radio station.
