Fiji interim defence minister at helm as leaders head off to Tonga coronation

Fiji's interim defence minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau has been made the acting interim prime minister while his superiors are in Nuku'alofa for Friday's coronation of Tonga's king.

The Fiji Times says this has been confirmed by the Prime Minister's office permanent secretary.

The interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, will be accompanied by the interim foreign minister Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.

The president, Ratu Josefa Iloilo, is staying in Fiji.
