A member of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji says it is important for people to take part in discussion around the the People's Charter.

The Council is today releasing its draft charter, which will be presented to the public over the next six weeks.

It is hoping to present the final document to the President, Ratu Josefa Iloilo, in October.

A council member, Josefa Serulagilagi, says the charter looks at good governance, social and economic development and the economy.

"What we would like to do is to really take out what is always called the coup culture in this country, and if we can, develop a kind of system whereby we move forward, and have solutions, so that we make sure that we don't have that kind of attitudes in the minds of the people."

Josefa Serulagilagi says the military needs to be involved in the national affairs in the country.
