The Solomon Islands Government is set to face a vote of no confidence today, but Prime Minister Derek Sikua is confident he has the numbers to defeat it.
The Opposition Leader, Manasseh Sogavare, says they have been encouraged to take the action by the people who, he says, are concerned at the Government's lack of action.
But Dr Sikua, whose Government came to power after a vote of no confidence late last year, argues they have restored a sense of direction to the country, including stabilizing the relationship with the Regional Assistance Mission.
A planned vote last month was withdrawn ahead of Parliament sitting, amid indications the Government had strong support.
Meanwhile police have increased their presence in Honiara ahead of the planned vote.
