A newly opened, multimillion dollar bottled water business in Samoa is aiming to compete with Fiji's world class product.

The South Pacific Water company was launched on the week-end with a promise from a local hotelier and company director, Tuifa'asisina Fred Grey, that the product will inject millions of dollars to the local economy.

The 7 million US dollars firm, which includes a high standard laboratory for water testing, is situated at Satuimalufilufi on government land.

Tuifa'asisina says overseas business partners have spoken of huge markets for South Pacific Water in all US states as well as in New Zealand and Australia.

At the opening of the new business venture, the Prime Minister, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, said he was happy that Samoa was finally producing purified bottled water that could compete overseas.
