Mixed day for Pacific athletes while five in action today

The Federated States of Micronesia weightlifter Manual Minginfel has made a good Olympics debut.

Lifting a total of 275 Minginfel finished 11th out of 17 lifters in the men's 62 kg's category.

Wendy Hale from the Solomon Islands lifted a total of 173 kg's to finish in 11th place in the womens 58 kg division.

And five Pacific athletes in action in Beijing today.

Palau's Elgin Elwais who trained in Korea this year will compete in the Wrestling Men's Greco Roman 55kg.

Elwais also spent time in Colorado Springs with the Korean National team, and also competed in Baku Azerbaijan at the Golden Grand Prix tournament.

Medal hopeful Joe Vueti of Fiji will compete in the men's weighlifting 69kg category.

Vueti who received a wild card entry trains and is based at the Oceania Weightlifting Institute in Noumea.

And three swimmers hit the pool, Commonwealth gold medallist PNG's Ryan Pini who makes his second appearance at the Cube, is joined by Carl Probert from Fiji and Chris Duenas from Guam all hoping to qualify for the 100 metres freestyle final
