Fiji Under 12's make alternate travel arrangements

9:20 am on 19 August 2008

The Fiji under 12 football team have made alternative travelling arrangements following no word from New Zealand authorities regarding transit visas through Auckland .

The Oceania Football Confederation wrote to the New Zealand government asking them to waive the sanctions placed on Fiji since the military coup in that country in late 2006 to allow the youngsters through on their way to Paris for the Danone Cup tournament which brings together junior teams from 32 countries.

The Flying Arrows under 12 coach, Farouk Janeman says he's disappointed with the recent turn of events, where innocent youngsters have been victimised.

But he says this has only made the side more determined to do well and not only fly Fiji's flag high at the tournament but to make Oceania

FC proud too.

The team leaves Fiji on August 30.
