Samoa football dispute to be heard by new sports tribunal

The Samoa government has decided that the country's local football federation's dispute with the world governing body FIFA and the Oceania football confederation will be heard in the country's newly established sports tribunal.

The dispute is over the federation's unpaid debts of more than half a million US dollars.

The Oceania Football Confederation recently penalized the federation by stopping all financial assistance from FIFA as a result of the row.

A government statement says the matter will be heard by the sports tribunal after the Attorney General sets appropriate terms of reference for the hearing
