New Zealand's High Commissioner to Vanuatu says some of the new representatives to the country's parliament will add an interesting element to politics.
Official results from this week's election are yet to be declared, but early indications are that the two main parties in the current coalition government have held their ground.
However there could be more than 15 new MPs.
Jeff Langley says the new members come at the expense of a number of familiar names.
"Seems at this stage that there will be fewer independents, but particularly in Port Vila there's a couple of independents who are coming in that are quite vocal, high profile, young, well educated, they're going to add an interesting element to the coming parliament."
